This is a short step-by-step guide for anyone wanting to start a new article on the Darkmoon Faire wiki.
How do I create a new article?[]
New articles can be created in two ways.
Use an input box[]
Input boxes like this one are found in various places on the Darkmoon Faire wiki. The home page also contains one. Just type a name for your new article into the box to begin!

Click on a red link[]
You may see various red links around the wiki. Links like these indicate that no article has yet been created under that name. You are free to start one if you think it's needed.
Beginning your article[]
When you first start to create an article, you will see a big white edit box along with some other options. We will explain those here.
Templates[]
Above the edit box is a list of templates to choose from (Blank, Character, Item, Location, Event and Quest).
You should ignore these options and stick with Blank for now, as it's the simplest option. The other templates have a few errors on them.
The edit box[]
Here's where the bulk of your article goes. Look at other similar articles for some inspiration!
If you want to change the style of your text or add some links and images, use the buttons along the top of the edit box to add the necessary code. Check out Wikipedia's Cheatsheet for a list of some other useful codes.
Categories[]
You will see a list of categories below the edit box, along with an 'Add Category' button. Ignore these for now.
Summary box[]
The summary box is where you optionally give a short summary of why you're editing the page. This helps other editors easily track changes to pages.
In this case we are starting a new page so we don't really need to add anything!
'Minor edit' & 'Watch this page' boxes[]
Next are two checkboxes: 'Minor edit', which you don't need to worry about, and 'Watch this page', which will add your page to your watchlist so you are notified when somebody makes a change to it. This is useful when the page is especially important to you, e.g. your own character or story page.
Save, Preview and Cancel[]
These are pretty self-explanatory! Please copy and paste your text to another program like Notepad before you press Save or Preview, just in case something goes wrong. It would be a shame to lose all that hard work!
